Join us at UN/SETTLED - TEDxYouth@StJohns 2017 on May 13th!

TEDxStJohns is proud to present TEDxYouth@StJohns on Saturday, May 13th, 2017 for its second live event! Designed for youth aged 12-25, the event is poised to inspire curiosity, ignite new ideas, and empower young leaders through the mission of TED: ideas worth spreading.

TEDxStJohns has been a growing community organization since its first event held in 2012. Over the years we have reached and inspired hundreds of curious minds across the city. We want to continue growing that reach and bring the power of new ideas to the bright young minds of St. John’s.

We want to make TEDxYouth StJohns as big of a success as our live TEDxStJohns event! So for 2017, our dedicated team of organizers will be putting all their efforts towards building this new platform geared toward this new, youthful audience. We are excited to foster youth leadership through coaching and training to develop skillsets which can be transitioned into TEDxStJohns events in the years to come.

UN/SETTLED: Who we are. Where we are. How we are.

Everything about us, and around us, is constantly shifting and evolving. We are in flux. A fragile state of “settled” is nothing new to Newfoundlanders and Labradorians — it is our personal, political, and economic reality.

Join us at TEDxYouth@StJohns as we challenge the stability of the present, as what was certain yesterday cannot be assumed today. Together, we will relentlessly push boundaries and navigate the spectrum between settled and unsettled.

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a conference in California in 1984, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with many initiatives.

At TED, the world’s leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Talks are then made available, free, at TED.com.

About TEDx

x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
